Last week found me living for nothing but deadlines
With my deadbeat sky but
This town doesn't look the same tonight
These dreams started singing to me out of nowhere
And in all my life I
Don't know that I've ever felt so alive

I wanna wake up kicking and screaming
I wanna live like I know what I'm leaving
I want a heart that I know is beating

'Awakening' was never one of my favourites, always just a fun song to jump to.. but last night that second verse and bridge gave voice perfectly to how I felt, to the situations of thousands of us feeling trapped in things we can't find meaning in, especially during these 2 soul-devouring weeks (uni exam period and all).

I remember right after Jono sang "Singapore, where you gonna run to now?", at the words "Salvation is here!" during Dare You To Move, my hand couldn't help but shoot straight up in the air, pointing to the God of salvation, the God of Singapore.. especially in light of all that's been happening in this city these weeks (with the elections coming up and all the gutter politics and unfriendly disagreements).. we really need Your redemption.

I remember worshipful moments during 'Only Hope', 'On fire' and '24', when my attention simply couldn't just be on the SF guys. How could it? when we were all singing Spirit take me up in arms with You, You're raising the dead in me..

And I remember the time when Jono was out in the crowd at the back out of sight, and we in the front row just continued facing the stage and shouting out the words of Hello Hurricane to the rest of the band. Hello hurricane, you can't silence my love.. Tim F was happily playing and singing along, and he looked at us and smiled, and at that moment there was a strong feeling that we all knew exactly what we were singing about - an eternal Love we all know can't be silenced.

Those were the moments of transcendence, the moments that all concertgoers and performers alike should seek after, pushing beyond just having a good time. That's the mark of greatness.
